Bob Magnanini is Of Counsel in the firm's New
Jersey office. Mr. Magnanini has extensive experience in prosecuting
and defending complex civil and criminal matters. He represents
clients in civil commercial, environmental and False Claims Act
cases. He has tried, arbitrated and mediated cases in federal
and state courts and before numerous administrative bodies. He
spearheaded several large internal investigations which resulted
in parallel civil and criminal proceedings and has handled several
criminal and appellate matters. He was appointed to complete
Michael Chertoff's tenure as the Investigations Officer of the
Mason Tenders Union to conclude the investigation into associations
with organized crime after Mr. Chertoff was appointed as the
Assistant United States Attorney General for the Criminal Division.
He
has extensive pretrial, trial and alternative dispute resolution
experience and has argued numerous motions. He has prosecuted
RICO and fraud actions and defended corporations and individuals
in securities fraud class actions. He has litigated a large variety
of commercial matters including institutional asset recovery,
banking issues, minority shareholder actions, construction and
commercial real estate actions and intellectual property matters
for companies such as AOL, AT&T, Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette
(now CSFB), DuPont, Foodtown, Ford Motor Company, Lucent, MobileMedia,
Sears, Siemens Microelectronics, Tosco Corporation, Vivendi and
Zenith. His work in the environmental area has focused primarily
on defending and prosecuting federal and state cost recovery
actions, regulatory and enforcement actions and corporate successor
liability and dissolution issues for companies such as Atlantic
Express, Baker & Taylor, International Paper Company, International
Truck and Engine, Monsanto, Sears and Solutia. He has defended
a variety of product liability actions involving toxic tort,
personal injury and property damage claims for companies such
as AT&T, International Paper Company, Monsanto, Sears and
Rubbermaid.
Mr. Magnanini is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the
New York Army National Guard and serves as the 42nd Infantry
Division
Assistant Chief of Staff, G-5 for Civil-Military Affairs. He
served in a variety of Intelligence, Counter-drug and Counter-terrorist
positions while on active duty in light infantry and special
operations forces. He was activated on September 11, 2001 and
was the senior division staff officer from the 42nd Infantry
Division at the World Trade Center for the two weeks following
the attack and responsible for coordinating and controlling
over 1800 military personnel assisting in the recovery efforts.
Mr. Magnanini was awarded New York State's highest service
award for his actions, the Conspicuous Service Medal, by Governor
Pataki.
Before joining Boies, Schiller & Flexner, Mr. Magnanini
was Of Counsel in the New Jersey Office of Latham & Watkins,
LLP.
Mr. Magnanini graduated from Fordham University in 1984
with a B.A. in Soviet Studies and a B.A. in History. He obtained
a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law where he was
a Fellow of the Tony Patino, Jr. Fellowship, a Governor Robert
B. Myner Scholar, and the Student Speaker at Commencement.
He was also the Managing Editor of the Columbia Journal of
Environmental Law and was awarded the Whitney North Seymour
Medal for Excellence in Trial Advocacy.
Mr. Magnanini is a member of the Bars of the States of New
Jersey and New York and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
He is admitted to the state courts of New Jersey, New York
and Pennsylvania as well as the District of New Jersey, the
Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Middle District of
Pennsylvania, the Southern District of New York, the Eastern
District of New York, the Northern District of New York and
the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. |
