Bill Hurlock is an associate in the firm’s
New Jersey office. His main practice areas are complex commercial,
antitrust, and False Claims Act litigation.
Mr. Hurlock has
significant experience in all aspects of litigation, arbitration,
mediation and appeals. Prior to joining Boies, Schiller & Flexner, Mr. Hurlock practiced for several years
at one of New Jersey’s largest law firms in Newark. He
successfully defended a number of corporations in class action
lawsuits and several large companies in the diet drug, latex
glove, and asbestos national mass tort litigation.
Before moving
to New Jersey, he served as an Associate Independent Counsel
for the Office of Independent Counsel David M. Barrett investigating
allegations concerning the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
in Washington, D.C. Prior to becoming an attorney, he served
on the staff of two additional Offices of Independent Counsel:
James C. McKay investigating allegations concerning the Attorney
General of the United States, and Donald C. Smaltz investigating
allegations concerning the Secretary of Agriculture. In addition,
Mr. Hurlock served on the staffs of a Congressman in the United
States House of Representatives and a Member of Parliament
in the British House of Commons.
Since 2002, he has been an
adjunct professor teaching Legal Research and Writing and writing-related
courses at Seton Hall Law School. He is also the Vice President
and barrister in the Arthur T. Vanderbilt American Inn of Court
and serves as a special advisor to the Federal Enforcement
Homeland Security Foundation. Just recently, Mr. Hurlock addressed
the participants of the Taxpayer’s Against Fraud annual
meeting in Washington, D.C. on recent developments in the False
Claims Act.
Mr. Hurlock graduated from American University in
1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. He obtained
a Juris Doctorate cum laude from
American University in 1998 where he was the Senior Articles
Editor for the International Law Review.
Mr. Hurlock is a member
of the bars of the States of New Jersey and New York, and the
District of Columbia. He is also admitted to practice before
the United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey,
Eastern District of New York, Southern District of New York,
the District of Columbia and the United States Court of Appeals
for the Third Circuit.
